Credits meter only the cloud features that cost real money to run. Anything that runs in your browser never touches a credit.
- 1 hour of cloud transcription = 15 credits — so 2,000/mo is roughly 130 hours a month.
- 1 page of handwriting or photo OCR = 1 credit.
- A caption-less YouTube video (AI fallback) = 3 credits; a video that already has captions = 1 credit.
- Turning a web page into Markdown via the API = 1 credit.

What are credits?
Credits meter only the cloud features that cost real money for us to run — cloud-speed transcription, handwriting OCR, caption-less YouTube, and API or MCP calls. Anything that runs in your browser never uses a credit. Pro includes 2,000 credits every month; the Developer tier includes 100 free every month, and you can buy more at $5 per 1,000.
What stays free forever?
Every in-browser tool: audio, video, image, PDF, and Office conversion — unlimited, with no sign-up. And exporting your result as TXT, SRT, VTT, or Markdown is free forever. We never paywall your own text; locking exports behind a subscription is a pattern we refuse to copy.
Can I cancel anytime?
Yes. Pro is month-to-month (or yearly if you prefer) and you can cancel in one click from the billing portal — you keep Pro access until the period you've already paid for ends, with no cancellation fee. One-time credit packs simply stay on your balance and don't expire.
What runs locally versus in the cloud?
Locally, on your device with no upload: audio and video transcription, image OCR, and PDF, Office, and eBook text extraction. In the cloud, which uses credits on Pro or the API: cloud-speed transcription of long recordings, speaker diarization (coming soon), caption-less YouTube, and handwriting OCR. The two link-based tools — YouTube captions and website-to-Markdown — only ever send the URL you paste, never a file of yours.
How does the credit math actually work?
A few real examples: one hour of cloud transcription costs 15 credits, so a Pro month of 2,000 credits is roughly 130 hours. One page of handwriting or photo OCR is 1 credit. A caption-less YouTube video handled by the AI fallback is 3 credits, while a video that already has captions is 1 credit. Turning a web page into Markdown through the API is 1 credit.
Do the free tools have any limits?
The in-browser tools are unlimited — the work runs on your own machine, so there is nothing for us to ration. The one exception is YouTube transcripts: because those must run on our server, the free tier is rate-limited to keep it sustainable. Pro raises those limits and adds caption-less videos.
Your local TXT, SRT, VTT, and Markdown exports are free forever — no plan ever locks your own text behind a paywall.
