Where they differ is maturity, price, and how far each has been built out — superwhisper has been shipping for years across three platforms; we've been shipping for weeks on one.

Where we're behind superwhisper, honestly

  • No Windows or iOS build — Apple Silicon Macs only.
  • No custom per-app formatting modes.
  • English only, and an alpha — expect rough edges superwhisper has long since sanded down.
  • Not notarized yet (notarization in progress); superwhisper is signed and notarized today, so it doesn't trigger macOS's Gatekeeper warning on first launch.

FAQ: Textify Voice vs superwhisper

Is superwhisper actually local, or does it use the cloud too?
Both, depending on which model you pick. superwhisper ships local Whisper/Parakeet models (Nano, Fast, Pro, Ultra) that run fully on-device — audio never leaves your Mac with those selected. It also offers larger cloud-hosted models for higher accuracy on hard audio, which is opt-in per superwhisper's own site. Textify Voice only ever runs locally; there's no cloud model to select because we don't have one.
Which one is more accurate?
We can only speak to our own number honestly: Textify Voice's base.en model scores 3.5% WER on LibriSpeech test-clean, an open, CC-BY-licensed benchmark — and we say plainly that's a regression tripwire, not a marketing claim, because clean read speech is easier than real dictation. superwhisper doesn't publish an equivalent open benchmark number that we could find as of August 2026, so we can't give you a sourced side-by-side. If accuracy on your specific voice and vocabulary matters most, the free tiers of both cost nothing to try.
Does superwhisper require a subscription?
No — you can pay $249.99 once for a lifetime license instead of $8.49/mo or $84.99/yr (superwhisper.com, checked August 2026). That's a real one-time option if you'd rather not have a recurring charge, though it's a larger upfront number than any of the fully-offline options on this site.
Why doesn't Textify Voice have custom formatting modes yet?
Mainly sequencing — we shipped the core hold-to-talk-and-transcribe loop first and are building outward from there. superwhisper's per-app Modes are a genuinely useful, mature feature and one of the clearest reasons to pick it over us today if that flexibility matters to your workflow.
